Miracle did not Come, Only Rajnoch Scored
Qualifying hopes for Boleslav became spoiled by a goal in the last minute of the first half when Mutu converted a strictly ordered penalty kick. Rajnoch managed to equalize after the break, however, the Fiorentina striker Vieri beat Pižanowski shortly after that. The Boleslav lost the first half through their passive performance; they were more courageous in the second half but this was not enough for win over the fifth team of the top Italian competition. Like a year ago, they obtained three points in a group of the UEFA Cup, this time for one win whereas for three ties in last year.
The Boleslav players started very withdrawn and Fiorentina pushed on the goal of Pižanowski easily. The Boleslav goalkeeper only rebounded a sharp centre pass from a side in the 11th minute, Pazzini did not manage to orientate himself and Kopic cleared the ball away from the penalty area. The Boleslav team answered with an attack that resulted in a corner kick. Kalina aimed his centre pass from the left-hand wing in front of the goal after unsuccessful shot by Hrdlička but the defenders of Fiorentina were ready.The Portuguese referee judged a duel between Procházka and Pazzini as a penalty foul three minutes before the end of the first half and the experienced Mutu aimed his penalty shot in the opposite side than Pižanowski jumped – 1:0. Before the players left the pitch for the half break, the ball from a free kick just cleared the crossbar of the Lupatelli’s goal.

Only Holub’s Equalizing Shot Was Successful in a Great Deal of Scoring Chances
Three defensive players were absent from the Boleslav squad for the last match of 2007. Voříšek, Hrdlička a Rajnoch were booked for the fourth time in the preliminary round so they were suspended for the match against Olomouc. The Olomouc team missed marksman Hartig due to long-term injury, which was also one of the reasons they have not scored on away pitches for seven weeks already. But they ended this unlucky sequence after less than a quarter of an hour on the Boleslav pitch. The Boleslav players only equalized after tireless efforts. They missed not only shooting good luck but also more coolness and stress in terminating their attacks to score a winning goal.
Kaščák started Kazár, who terminated his solo against Pižanowski with the leading goal for Olomouc in the 14th minute – 0:1.
The impatient Boleslav audience could enjoy the equalizer in the 40th minute. Mendy headed the ball to Holub in a scrummage of defending opponent players after a centre pass from the right-hand line, and Holub cold-bloodedly shot the ball into the Olomouc net along the left foot of Drobisz, at last – 1:1.

Only Nsaliwa Scored. Holub Hit the Post, Táborský and Mendy the Crossbar
After the cautious both-sided first half, Mladá Boleslav conceded the decisive goal in the opening minute of the second half from the head of the native from Dakar, Nsaliwo, after a centre pass from Manduco. The pressure from Boleslav at the end of the match did not result in a goal, Holub hit the post while Mendy and Táborský hit the crossbar. Mladá Boleslav were again tightly defeated after a year by a leading Greek club with the final score 0:1. Only a win in Italian Florence, where the team will travel in the last week before Christmas without suspended Matějovský, can revive qualifying hopes for the spring stage of the UEFA Cup. The Boleslav players enforced a slight territorial dominance in some parts of the first half, however, they did not cause any serious hazards for the goal of the opponent.

They Saved One Point while Playing One Man Down
Head-coach Ščasný regarded the gain of one point as the maximum that the Boleslav players could achieve in ten men against the league leaders. Boleslav took the lead through a goal scored by Rajnoch, however, the team played almost one hour one man down after Hrdlička was erroneously sent off. Slavia managed to push through the concentrated Boleslav defence only once through Pudil. Boleslav Win in the North and Stay in Qualification Hunt
The Boleslav players defeated Swedish Elfsborg in spite of going down in the first half through a goal scored by Andersson. Pižanowski saved Ishizaki’s penalty kick before the break. Táborský and Mendy reversed the score in the second half and Voříšek confirmed the win in extra time. Mladá Boleslav strengthened their hopes for qualifying in the spring stage of the UEFA Cup thanks to this win, however, they need to add some more points to the three gained in this match.
The initial Elfsborg’s onrush resulting partially from more confident movement of the home players on the artificial pitch was stopped by Voříšek in the 17th minute. The Boleslav full-back took a free kick from the left-hand side line after a foul against Vaněček and his tricky pass flew through a thicket of bodies and bounced off the left-hand post, luckily into the arms of the surprised Elfsborg goalkeeper, Wiland. Events on the pitch balanced out, however, neither Vaněček nor Matějovský utilized their advantageous shooting positions.

Goals Came from Penalty Kicks Only, Boleslav Lost Again
Both goals were scored from penalty kicks in the match that certainly offered impressive performance for both the spectators on the terraces and the viewers of the live broadcast of Czech TV. Moreover, at least one other penalty kick in favour of Mladá Boleslav was denied by the referee Matějek. The draw means another unpleasant loss for the Boleslav team on own pitch and a luckily obtained point for Teplice. It was of little use for Mladá Boleslav to be a more active team for most of the playing time when the players were unable to score any goals. Řezníček hit the crossbar only during playing time, the goal was scored by Rajnoch from a penalty kick.
Mladá Boleslav in effort to secure defensive started the match in a standard line-up with four defenders and four midfielders while the opening line-up of Teplice included only one forward, the marksman Fenin, who was alternatively supported from a five-member midfield line by Verbíř, Štohanzl or Doležal. They did not Score In a Poor Performance and that is Why They Lost Again
Mladá Boleslav was punished for its fruitless offensive by another league defeat at Plzeň. The team from West Bohemia got ahead through two goals scored by Jarolím and Fillo in the third quarter. The rivals surpassed the Boleslav players in most football parameters, in particular as for speed and movement. The Boleslav head-coach, Ščasný, ascribed it to tiredness from the demanding Thursday match of the UEFA Cup. Mladá Boleslav lost another three points and the opportunity to get to fifth position in the league standings. Moreover, the team also lost goalkeeper Miller, who left Plzeň with a suspected broken thumb on his left hand.

Unexpectedly Timid Performance was not Sufficient for a Single Point
The first match in its group of the UEFA Cup was unsuccessful for Mladá Boleslav as the team did not gain a single point against the third best Spanish club. Villarreal deservedly won the first half as Mladá Boleslav played very timidly. Moreover, referee Skomina from Slovenia judged personal duels evidently in favour of the Spanish team. They did not need it at all as they were more self-confident and accurate in combination than the Boleslav players. They did not Gain any Points with a Bad Shot
The Mladá Boleslav players missed a lot of scoring chances, which they handled very sloppily according to the head-coach, Ščasný, in the match against the fiercely defensive team of Zlín, which relied only on breaks and also scored the only goal of the match from one of them. The ball flew around the Zlín goal from both the right-hand and left-hand side and Boleslav gained five times more corner kicks than its opponents, which was significantly supported by goalkeeper Baránek.
